I recently had the chance and privilege to be invited to Resorts World Genting for a night stay in their newly built and furnished XYZ deluxe room in First World Hotel Tower 2 Annexe. This is all thanks to their RM300 million revamp to recreate a new, chic and trendy hotel image, suitable for young travellers!
If you haven’t heard, as part of their RM300 million revamp, First World Hotel have added 412 rooms and will be adding a further 874 rooms, targeted to open in 2016. This makes them the Largest Hotel in the world with a grand total of 7351 rooms! How’s that for a mega hotel?!
The XYZ deluxe room is a well-lit chic room with a open wardrobe system and neat design. The yellow bamboo like accent wall and pockets of sky blue boxes add an artistic touch of nature-feel. It also makes the room look bigger and more exquisite. The clever use of coloured box designs created ample space in the room without sacrificing the need for storage and shelves. Yina and I placed some of our important belongings and skin care in and on top of the box surrounding the television for convenient reach.
Notice the charging points below the television? It is a universal charging point and one of them is even a USB charging point! How cool and convenient! I do foresee that as technology improves, the whole world will finally internationalise charging heads (most likely the USB heads) so kudos to RWG for the foresight! The charging point is also placed within a blue box shelf which acts as a placeholder for our phones and other electronics – really thoughtful since I’ve been to many hotels where I sometimes have to pull a chair or leave my phone on the floor. There is also a similar charging point at the bed side table, so there’s ample charging points in the room!
It’s the first time I am staying in a hotel room with no air conditioning and ironically, I fully appreciated it! Genting, being located on a highland, is naturally cold and there is really no air-conditioning needed. This means really fresh air and no stale air-conditioning smell that many hotels tend to have, especially when they have smoking rooms with central air conditioning systems! It also means a greener environment too!
One of the highlights which got the bloggers talking over lunch on the first day was the toilet! It’s effectively segregated into 2 with their own seperate basins, which means that one can bath and the other can use the toilet at the same time! No need to fight over the toilet! *thumbs up!*
And yes, there’s a hair dryer *two thumbs up!*
Looking at the comfortable size of the rooms and the well-thought out functional design, you wouldn’t believe this is a 3 star hotel. Being a frequent traveller, I find myself enjoying the benefits, ambiance and cleanliness of a 4.5 star (if there is something like that 😛 5 stars if toiletries were provided :P)

The XYZ rooms also come in 3 pax bedders – family and group friendly! Think a all-girls or a all-guys getaway!
Some of the rooms come with a awesome view too!
We also got the chance to visit the World Club Room which looks like a room out of pinterest – amazingly gorgeous! #bedroomgoals. It’s super spacious and luxurious, the kind of room you’ll never want to leave! Perfect for families with young children!
I am super in love with the seagreen theme of the room, gonna steal some of the concepts for my new home!
Though not spotting the interesting separated cubical toilet design of XYZ rooms, the toilet in World Club Room is big and comes with all the basic necessities that you’ll need for a nice and memorable stay in First World Hotel 🙂
The room also spot a awesome view!
