At first impressions, I was charmed by LG G7+ ThinQ’s modern design, sleek 6.1-inch super bright display. Considering the big display, the phone is incredibly light weight at 162grams, making it a joy to hold and carry in my purse! I have been using my LG G7+ ThinQ for slightly more than a month and found myself addicted to the phone for 2 main functions – creating incredible content with it’s amazing camera capabilities and playing games >.<
Amazing Camera with AI Capabilities
LG G7+ ThinQ is armed with a 8MP front camera and 16MP rear camera, both with standard and Super Wide Angle configurations. This levelled up the whole playing field for my content, as I currently do not have any cameras that are able to capture super wide-angles! The super wide angle enabled us to capture my ootds and travel photos with gorgeous scenery and background without distortions, something we have struggled with some camera lenses.
The cameras also has AI features that offers 19 shooting modes for even more intelligence-optimized shots. I can also choose to further improve my photos by selecting from three other effect options for one that best fits the look I wish to achieve.
I was also very impressed with LG G7+ ThinQ low light photography which many of my blogger friends depend on for night events. It’s new Super Bright Camera brightens images up to four times more than typical photos shot in dim light, making photos look clearer and brighter even in low-light situations. This is achieved with it’s AI algorithm that automatically adjusts the camera settings when shooting in low light using a combination of pixel binning and software processing.
The camera also boosts a portrait mode which Shawn and I found it to be a hit and miss. The portrait Mode generates creative looking shots with bokeh effect, however we find that more work needs to be done to make the effect more natural and professional looking. Still, it is a additional option that we appreciate having in such a sleek phone. Many times I find myself whipping out my LG G7+ ThinQ in preference over my Olympus camera!
Speedy processor, bright display
The second main function that I use the phone for is (found guilty) for playing games. I recently got hooked onto mobile game Merge Dragons which took a load on Shawn’s Samsung S7 and started to lag as he progressed into the game. On the other hand, with a powerful Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, I never once ran into any lag or hitch on the LG G7+.
The phone takes a break when left unattended for 5 minutes, adjusting screen brightness and performance automatically to save battery life, all while having the game running in the background. What a gaming bonus especially when playing city building games! The smooth gameplay drastically affected our gaming experience. Shawn gave up on the game while I continued to build my Dragon Empire!
The wide screen and bright clear display makes my gaming experience more immersive and enjoyable, I found myself glued to my handphone game for hours compared to my Iphone!
Awesome Boombox Speaker
I discovered this unintentionally during first few days of use. My friend was over for a baking session at my house and we wanted to play some music as we wait for the cookies to brown. The audio experience was incredibly rich, the baking session turned into a karaoke session in the kitchen instantly!
This is enabled by LG G7+ ThinQ Boombox Speaker that utilizes the internal space of the smartphone as a resonance chamber to deliver double the bass compared to conventional smartphones. The result is a powerful “boombox” sound without the need for external speakers. It is also the first smartphone to offer DTS:X, capable of delivering virtual 3D sound for all content up to 7.1 channel audio with earphones. I’ll be downloading all my drama series into the phone. Coupled with a good earpiece, long train and bus rides will now be more entertaining!
Smart Home enabled
If you ever wondered what ThinQ means, it’s LG’s AI platform that connects a host of its other ThinQ appliances together. For example, you can easily connect LG’s ThinQ mobile phones to your washing machine or refrigerator and control them straight from the phone’s notification drawer. Talking about a smart home getting real!
Is it worth your money?
If making every picture insta-worthy your game, this phone is worth every penny. I even managed to get a whole 4K 30fps travel vlog done with the phone, no colour adjustments nor video stabilisation needed.
For gamers, be prepared for a immersive experience with it’s swift system, crystal clear screen and a speaker that packs a punch.
