Lancome Juicy Shaker Review + Giveaway!

Once in a while I get into this self-irritating phase where I would walk aimlessly around beauty departments. My eyes were looking for something really refreshing, ingeniously innovative and super exciting to happen. ‘Never seen before’ is the phrase… and my wish got granted with a press drop! Say hello to the all-new Lancôme Juicy Shakers! As soon as I saw my Juicy Shakers, I took them and shook them! There’s something about the biphasic look of oil over pigments that made it really intuitive for the hand, I didn’t even have to think. ‘Ya gotta shake em to make them work!’ Thankfully the little metal ball in the product responded with a gleeful ‘tik tik tik’ sound, assuring me that I was right!

The new Lancôme Juicy Shakers were inspired by two emblematic Lancôme products of the past; the fabulous Lancôme Shaker lipsticks created in 1946 and the iconic Lancôme Juicy Tubes of the 2000s. Conceptualized by Lancôme’s founder Armand Petitjean, the Shaker Lipstick donned an avant-garde silhouette of a cocktail shaker on its packaging, symbolizing the glitz and glamour of her time. The cocktail resemblance was definitely strong in this number, given that I immediately shook it as I picked it up!   The super-shiny Juicy Tubes lip gloss was dubbed as a makeup-revolution and were highly sought after. Many teenagers would go as far to own all 20 colors in the collection! Sadly, in the year 2000, I was more concerned about my PSLE than the color of my lips or I might just be the trendiest girl in school >.< These Juicy Tubes changed the rules of makeup with their fun colors, easy application and zesty fragrances. The Juicy Shakers took after all 3 characteristics and made them better!   Lancôme Juicy Shaker is a bi-phase lip formula with an ingenious concoction of 4 silky oils, resulting in dazzling smooth lips.

• Peach kernel oil to soften and nourish the lips
• Sweet almond oil to leave lips supple and re-structured
• Cranberry oil that acts as an anti-oxidant and protects + restore skin’s protective barrier because of it’s rich amount of Omega 3 and 6.
• Musk rose oil that helps to regenerate and sooth the lips.

The cushion tip applicator was never seen before. Shaped like a big soft Ricola Fresh Pearl, it was like sweet fruity kisses on my lips! The sensorial applicator is velvety, supple and soft to touch, just look at my pictures below. No rose petals were harmed in the process! The alveolar texture of the sponge absorbs and delivers just the right dose of product. The soft pointed tip helps with application precision. I prefer to use light dabbing motions to apply, helping my lips to absorb the precious oil while building on the fun and vibrant pigments onto my lips. It’s easy to control the amount of pigment on your lips. For a lip oil, the Lancôme Juicy Shaker does contain a lot of pigments. Nonetheless, it’s still possible to control your lip colour. Trick: If you wish to have more oil than pigments, simply sit your Juicy Shaker on the counter for a day to slightly separate the oil and pigments. Shake until well blended for a more pigmented effect!   The Lancôme Juicy Shaker comes in a delectable range of 20 shades in 20 irresistible fragrances, creating 20 different attitudes. I am given Juicy Shaker #142 in Freedom of Peach and Juicy Shaker #151 in Cherry Symphony (one of the 5 star shades!). The attitude? Just simply Remarkable 😉

As you can see, Cherry Symphony is a bright red color while Freedom of Peach (did you see the wordplay there?) glows with an ultra-luminous orange accent. I love how each shade comes with a unique and pun-intended name! Not forgetting its lingering charm, the Cherry Symphony leaves a distinct yummy cherry fragrance and Freedom of Peach reminded me of a fresh peach cocktail at a dance party.   In the above picture I created an easy ombre lip effect by first applying the lighter Freedom of Peach all over my lips and then applying the darker Cherry Symphony at the center. Reverse the order and apply the lighter shade in the center on top of the darker shade for a plumping effect! Here, I applied Cherry Symphony on my upper lips and Freedom of Peach on my lower lip to create an interesting young pouting look! I find that when mixed together, a new fragrance is created too – Fruit punch?! So has Lancôme Juicy Shaker shaken up my world? 😛   Not only is it fun to use, the formula and color rocks too. The oils really nourish my lips, making them soft, supple and pampered. The classy glass and metal packaging is nothing short of Armand Petitjean’s 1940s guts and glamour. I sit them on my vanity near the mirror as eye candies.  While the colors don’t last through the day, I certainly don’t mind shaking up and dabbing on my Juicy Shaker a couple of times more; not sure if I just want to have an excuse to shake it, or feel the soft blissful velvet touches on my lips or just lusting after the sweet fruity taste on my lips.
