I am writing this less than 4 hours after the experience, while my fully pampered body and muscles are still feeling the soothing after effects of the massage experience. It was heavenly… in fact, when Qi Yun asked me to join her for the launch of OSIM’s all-new uLove massage chair, I was skeptical.
After all, my experience with massage chairs has been ‘meh’ thus far. My family bought a massage chair about 10 years ago, and I remembered feeling disappointed because the chair didn’t live up to its hype. The chair was not able to massage deeply and its reach was limited, creating the experience of ‘relaxing’ on a bunch of rollers. Making trips to the massage parlor was definitely a better use of the money. Nonetheless, I accompanied Qi Yun for the event. We tested out the OSIM uLove for 30minutes, and within that short timeframe my entire perception of massage chairs had flipped 180°! In fact, the experience was so good I actually fell asleep in a room full of strangers! It was a thoroughly enjoyable and perfect way to end the evening. Qi Yun on the other hand, was fully rejuvenated and awakened by the experience. She was like an energizer bunny on steroids thereafter, smiling dreamily all the way. The massage was the perfect remedy to ease her muscle tension and improve blood flow from all that computer work. 
Over the years, product design has reached a stage whereby ‘User Experience’ has become more holistic. Massage is not simply confined to the senses of touch, but sight, sound and smell as well. The OSIM uLove has integrated a cosy chamber with an immersive audio experience – the speakers are positioned very ideally on your left and right. The calm steady beats and nature sounds subtly lulled me into a relaxed mood, loosening up my muscles for the chair’s ‘hugs’. If you’re using this at the comfort of your home, dim the lights and prepare a soothing scent to lull yourself into your own private world. Technological advances have also led to a more extensive massage experience, providing deeper and far-reaching kneads for my muscles. I was very surprised when I felt the chair massaging my butt. While it sounds weird writing about a butt-massaging chair, it felt pretty good and helped relieve tension around the lower back / hip area. Most massage chairs only reach up to the lower back, so I’m pretty impressed by the far reach of the OSIM uLove. In fact, the OSIM uLove has a unique Neck & Butt Massage Program that works the muscles from the neck all the way to the butt. The feeling of a continuous long-track massage from the neck all the way down was simply divine. Besides the far reach, I was pleasantly surprised by the comfy feeling and depth of the massage. In some massage chairs, I can feel the hard massage rollers as they move around. For OSIM uLove, it feels different. You have to try it to know what I mean, but I’ll describe it the best I can. The OSIM uLove kneads feel firm yet gentle, as though it knows instinctively how much pressure to apply. It was like my wife’s massaging (ok, it’s almost alike – Wife’s massage is always the best)! I later found out that the OSIM uLove uses a V-Hand with 720° Roller Balls for a 3D massage. The roller balls can rotate 360° both vertically and horizontally, which means it can apply good pressure along every contour of your body. Apparently, there’re 7 levels of 3D selections of massage for the shoulders, lumbar and butt. I’ve tried 1 of the 7 levels and it’s good. [A special insert by Qi Yun: Hello! Pictures don’t really do the OSIM uLove just, you just have got to see it and feel it in real life. Its stylish design exudes modern elegance. Its quilted and modern weave inspired leatherette feels luxurious to touch. The OSIM uLove comes in 5 beautiful colour hues – Dreamy White, Handsome Brown, Charming Red, Dashing Copper and Gorgeous Teal. Both Qi Yun and I love the Gorgeous Teal hue, already visualizing how perfectly well it’ll fit into our living room.
