I have recently fallen in love with this routine:
Everyday after reaching home from work, I would tune into my favourite Chinese drama and unwind. (Currently watching Eternal Love aka Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms) Towards the last 5 minutes of the show, I would reach out for my Nooni Snowflake Cleanser readily available on my desk, dip into the ‘snowflake’ and start my cleansing routine – removing makeup in the most relaxing and time efficient way ever.
A oil cleansing balm created with oxygenated water retrieved from Jeju, Korea, Nooni Snowflake Cleanser is a in-house brand from Memebox Singapore. It is enriched with moisturising shea butter and lotus extract to effectively cleanse away makeup, sebum and impurities. Unlike makeup wipes, makeup removers and microcellular water, oil cleansing balms do not require the use of cotton pads nor wipes, thus reducing friction and abrasion. I like to use the spatula provided to scoop a sufficient amount onto my fingers and warm it up. When warmed to skin temperature, the Nooni Snowflake Cleansing balm melts beautifully like snowflakes into a frictionless thick oil. This luxurious texture glides smoothly across my skin, melting make up without any tagging on the skin – all these goes a long way in preventing fine lines and looking young!
At first look, the product reminds me of rich coconut oil – firm and pale white that melts into a colourless thick oil upon contact with higher temperature. The balm carries a light and fragrant floral scent, almost hard to detect. It’s a joy when I get to catch a whiff! When picking out a scoop, I notice how fast the product melts in my spatula with slight friction, but quickly curdle back into it’s waxy form. The product NEVER drips or slide out of place. As you can see in the second image below, even when I’ve scooped a whole lump onto my hand and turned my arm sideways, it stays! I never have to worry about using it on my desk and over my laptop – mess & fuss-free.
As for it’s makeup-removing powers, rather than describing it to you in words, let’s do it with real makeup and pictures! Here I have a swatch selection of what I deem are some hardest to remove makeup:
- Foundation stick that sticks to the skin and hide all your flaws. A generous layer of course!
- Matte lipstick from Inglot. These really stain your lips (and arm after swatches) whole day long!
- Famously long lasting matte lip lacquer from colourpop
- Of course, while we are at it, some dark colourpop eyeshadows
- And my favourite Maybelline daily eyeliner that never bulge even after 4 hours of workout and a full face perspiration
Now I shall let the pictures speak to you in their thousand words 😉
The product works in 3 parts: Balm, Oil & Milk. As you can see in of my closeup shots, the Nooni snowflake cleanser begins melting almost immediately upon contact with skin temperature. With some gentle rubbing, the balm melts away and transforms into a rich lubricant, taking away most of the makeup at the same time. With a little more massage, I was able to remove most of the famously long-lasting eyeliner.
The oil then emulsifies into a milky white texture upon contact with water, removing even more makeup as I begin to wash away the residue. The result? Fresh looking skin that is healthier and softer. The Nooni snowflake cleanser also works well at removing waterproof mascara – just a gentle massage at the lashes and eye area with a quick rinse. It does it’s job gently and completely without stinging my eyes at all. That’s why I can still work my way though my whole face with my eyes open, completing my drama before rinsing it off! Full marks as a daily first-step cleanser and makeup remover! Moreover, at SGD$30.00 for a 120g tub, it is a really affordable option.
Why not give my new routine a try with Memebox’s Nooni Snowflake Cleanser? 🙂
