I hate falling sick. You can also put it this way – I can’t bear or afford to fall sick… There’s too much things in life to do, too little time and the worst way to waste time is to be down and out with sickness.
I came down with flu last weekend and forced a ‘speedy recovery’ by spending the whole of Sunday doing nothing but sleeping. It worked well, but only two days later, I went down with the usual stomach upset and toilet runs again. Perhaps this time it’s triggered by a Lock-In scare on Tuesday >.< It was horrible given that I was ‘volunteered’ to be at Accumbens Networks exhibition booth at the recent Mobile and Internet Show at Marina Bay Sands for the next two days. I don’t want to miss it out either.
I didn’t really recover and was feeling cold the whole week. So I decided that I’ll just do a half day in office today and go home to rest. Glad I did coz by afternoon I thought I was so wobbly I thought I won’t make it to the bed. Sleep helps a lot in recovery. Was answering Watsapp through my groggy sleepy state I hope I haven’t typed weird stuffs to clients…
When it comes to recovery food, there are 2 schools of thought. I take the more unconventional one. Many people would usually opt for blend tasteless non-nutritious porridge or oats (you can see how biased I am here) which I can never understand how it helps in recovery. I eat anything that makes be feel happier and better! Once I got up for dinner, I headed straight to Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe for my No.1 recovery comfort food – Spicy Diced Pork Noodles Soup.
Sounds like the kind of food your mommy would tell you not to eat when you are sick or recovering yet? I can tell you it does wonder for me and probably will for you too if you change your mindset and beliefs away from the old folktales.
How do you get nutrition from white porridge like this? I even had to enhance this picture to make it look nicer on my blog!
Here’s a one for you to compare. Which one looks like it can better refuel your weak body?
I’ll teach my kids next time to eat whatever makes them happy when they are recovering.
Here are some of my other favorite comfort food.
And here’s what other people’s #comfortfood are. Look how nutritious (and junky but still better than plain white porridge) all of them look! Hey look! There’s my instagram in it too! 😛
So the next time you recover from a illness and just got your appetite back, reach out your hand for your nearest comfort food. The happier mind will ensure a faster recovery 🙂
