LORAC summerGLO Eye Shadow Palette

Filled with the most gorgeous colours of Summer, selling at only USD$24 and LIMITED EDITION (also read: I must get it!) , it was a no brainer purchase. I got mine shipped from Nordstorm with the help of Crystal (thank you QOS!) and had lots of fun playing with it!

There are many mixed reviews on the net with regards to this palette – all I can say is you get what you pay for 🙂 The LORAC summerGLO Eyeshadow Palette is packed with eight sleek and summer shades, with a balanced range of vibrant mattes to gorgeous shimmers. What I like most about this palette is the fact that matte white and nude are the 2 most commonly used and fastest to deplete colours, thus they come in two oversized pots. With such a versatile and wonderful range of colours packed in one sleek hardcover case, I can totally see how this palette can easily bring you from sweet girl next door look, to a sexy office lady look, to a natural romantic look and of course, that ready for the pool party look!

Here are the swatches.

These swatches don’t really tell, but the purple shade (4th from the left) and the mustard brown shade (3rd from the right) took me a lot of building up before the colours really show. On the eyes and without a primer base to work on, these 2 shades are near impossible. The rest of the colours have pretty good payoff though, with the peachy pink and sea green being my 2 most favourite shades ^.^ As I’ve mentioned before, this palette is really versatile and here, I have created 2 different looks.

1) The Peachy Pink Girl next door

For this look I’ve used the Peachy Pink as a overeye base colour ( 3rd color on swatch from the left) and the taupe shade (2nd color on swatch from the left) for contouring as well as a little at the outer eyelid. I also used the white shade ( 1st colour on swatch from the left) to highlight my lower lids and a little dab of dark brown (2nd color on swatch from the right) at the ends of my lower lids. For eyeliner, I used the Dior It-line and the Dior It-Lash for the mascara. I have also used NARS white eyeliner on my waterline.

2) The Hot Town Girl look

Sea Green and Purple

For this look I used the Nude shade (1st on swatch from the right) all over my whole eyelids and then added in the sea-green shade (3rd colour on swatch from the right) on my eyelids making sure that I do not let the color go too far off my double eyelids for a more wearable look. Then I used the white shade (1st colour on swatch from the left) at the inner corners of my eyes and the insides part of my lower lid and added the purple (4th colour on swatch from the left) at the outer side of my bottom lids. For eyeliner, I used the Dior It-line and the Dior It-Lash for the mascara. I have also used NARS white eyeliner on my waterline.

Just some afterthoughts from using it for about 2 weeks – The 2 shades with little payoff have kind of caked up on me (compressed?) after some use and the colours are now less transferable. So for some of you who might be drooling over the purple and mustard brown, you might want to do some more research before getting this palette – you might save some agony without it 😛 Screen Shot 2014-06-28 at 3.56.55 PM   Screen Shot 2014-06-28 at 3.56.46 PM

Overall verdict: I’m still loving it and it has found it’s place in my carry on makeup bag for it’s sleek packaging and versatility 🙂 This is one palette that I might bring along for travelling too. For USD$24 / SGD 32.35, I think it’s not bad a buy 🙂

Talk soon.
