As day breaks and the sun rises, the Mac Toledos awakes and begin their busy day in the land of my Grandma’s BonsaisIntroducing Venus Red Mac Toledo. Not a morning person definitely.Tenor Voice Mac Toledo also awakes to his morning routine. He checks his garden every morningClosely inspecting the flowers and health of his plants*climbs* and pleased with the blossomsTenor Voice then started to make his way to Venus Red house. He hates the journey. To get to Tenor Voice’s house, he has to balance across her narrow bridge. It built by a world renowned designer who uses a special purple core and thus, the bridge was called ‘ Designer Purple’ Mac Toledo. He wished it was built wider.Meanwhile, Venus Red receives an uninvited guest – Ripe Peach Mac Toledo, who has been courting and stalking her, much to Venus Red’s irritation.Fortunately, Tenor Voice arrived shortly and chased Ripe Peach away with his high but strong tenor voice.Ripe Peach, witnessing how Venus Red prefers to be Tenor Voice, cast himself… far…….far away….Ripe Peach does not know that Tenor Voice and Venus Red are just platonic friends. Too bad.ConversationPetrified. But still showing his gorgeously red inert 😛A day in the bonsai world is short, and the sun begins to set.Tenor Voice is just glad that there’s no swatching today. He gets back to his home and perched himself at the highest point, checking his plants one last time before ending his eventful day.
My Grandmother’s bonsai and how this series came about.
My Grandmother loves bonsai and this love was passed on to my mother. I remembered how my Grandmother will care for these plants, pruning them to keep their leaves small (reduce water loss and keeping the plant small) and adding fertilisers. She has since passed away and my mother took in a couple of them. The bonsais here are easily older than me. I am pretty sure that I’ll be having some bonsai plants in my new home too!
This series was born from insomnia. There was some light shining on the plants, which made the white flowers glow exceedingly beautifully. The gorgeous twisted branches and cluster of leaves cast mysterious yet mesmerising shadows on the wall. So I took out my newly received Mac Toledos , a touch light and started shooting in the dark. This series is thus born.
