Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion Review

Not sure about you but I am a HUGE fan of lip lacquers! So when I got to know that Estee Lauder is coming up with their Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion, I can’t wait to get my hands on them!

Generally, lip lacquers have all the pros of Lip Gloss and Lip Stick combined, with the cons removed!

• Liquid formula makes it easy and fast to apply evenly unlike lipsticks where many times they don’t glide all too well
• They apply wet but dry down to a supple lipstick texture fast so you don’t get the irritating feeling of hair sticking all your lip, then subsequently transferred to your face when you pull them away (yea, this is what happens with lip gloss)
• They usually have rich colour intensity like paint on the lips (that’s why they are called lip LACQUERS)

Combining the above three points, they make you look and feel fabulous!

 

The new Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion comes in a stunning array of 12 different colours, mostly suitable for the coming autumn season, although some coral shades can definitely be worn in spring and summer. Classic lip colours like the Lethal red will never go out of trend.

I’ll be careful to try on the colors before buying though. I was initially gunning for 420 Fragile Ego, what looks like a hot looking pink – it is actually a bright plum on lip that made me look older.

First Impression

Having owned and tried many different lip lacquers, I must say Estee Lauder’s formula is one of the best. It’s colour intensity is imparable, similar to that of a creamy lipstick. Yet, it’s texture is not compromised – still comfortably lightweight with no greasy feeling at all. It’s unique slanted and curved tip applicator helps glide just enough product effortlessness. Use the tip for precise application, the convex part for a thinner defined look and the concave part for a full – lip volumizing effect. The first hour of application is undeniably sultry 😉

 

Longer Wear

There are some lip lacquers in the market that dries horribly and within just 2 to 3 hours of application, peel your lips together with it. Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Liquid Lip Potion dries comfortably on my lip (note that I have dry lips that are prone to crack & bleeding) – in fact, I even find it nourishing! This is all thanks to the unique time release encapsulated Moisture complex with Hyaluronic Acid that helps seal in hydration. This complex also contains a super nourishing cocktail of oils such as Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil and Sunflower Oil – No wonder my lips love them!

 

‘Super Duper Long Wearing’

Exact words from my Husband. If he notices it, then it must be true! We were out together from the morning and I even planted some Lip Potion on his cheeks (first one, then both as I could not remove the first one haha! Just smudged them out to look like blusher! New multi-use found??) . Had lunch, played around and on the way home after dinner, he noticed that the colour hadn’t wear off a single bit! No reapplication, lasted me more than 8 hours (10 hours to be exact!) However, my lips were visibly peeling by then, but no complaints – 10 hours staying power and peeling only 8 hours later? It even faired better than some lip balms.

 

Here are 2 looks that I have created using 2 selected colours, Naughty Naive (Coral) and Quiet Riot (Berry).

For Naughty Naive, I’m using Autumn Leaves as an inspiration to bring a seemingly summer colour to a autumn look.

For Quiet Riot, here’s 2 looks to show that you can wear the understated Quiet Riot from office to night.
