7 Things to do at Resorts World Genting

I was looking for a weekend staycation getaway when the opportunity to visit Resorts World Genting came knocking! What awesome timing! The last time I visited Genting, I was so small I remembered I had to be carried up the coach for the steps were too high for my short legs and I didn’t hit the minimum height required for most rides! So I was determined to go for as many rides as possible during my trip there, only when I realised that….

WHAT? THE THEME PARK IS CLOSED? SINCE WHEN?

So I quickly did more research – turned out RWG is currently building something BIGGER and BETTER!

Withholding my disappointment, I decided to go for this trip with a open heart – Im sure glad I did! There’s still so much fun and activities to explore, trust me, I was worn out by the end of the trip I just slept through the coach ride back home!

So, even though the theme park is closed, here’s 7 things you can still do at Resorts World Genting and have tons of fun while at it!

1) Escape the Singapore heat and cozy up in a cool comfy night at First World Hotel!

It was a 6 to 7 hours coach ride up Genting Highlands and we left at night at 10.30 pm SGT . While the coach ride was super comfortable (coach details at end of post), nothing beats a good warm shower and a nice comfy bed!

2) Go behind the Scenes of Resorts World Genting – Find out what keeps them running!

A massive hotel and operation is nothing without the technology, machines and people to keep everything running in tip top order! Who does all the laundry? How do they manage it with thousands of rooms changing their bedsheets everyday? While we enjoy a show, who are the ones who work tirelessly to ensure that all the lights and sounds are well synchronised so seamlessly that we forget there are people behind the scenes to bring the production to live?

Well, for only RM 28 (or RM 25 for Genting Rewards Member) this tour brings you around RWG to learn more about their daily operation and witness the massive coordination that happen behind the scenes.

Itinerary:

2.15pm – Everyone gathers at the First World Tagging Counter or the Vision City Video Games Park
2.30pm – Genting International Showroom
3.00pm – SnowWorld ( Replaced by Laundry Room behind the scenes)
3.30pm – See, Do & Eat Workshop 4.30pm – Horizon 50
5.00pm – End of Programme

Some interesting notes taken:  – Colours of the light can dramatically affect the mood of the scene  – Light patterns are created using cut out mosaics. You can even create your own mosaic logo to create light patterns!  – Single colour light patterns are metal cut outs while multicolour ones are made using stained glass!  – This theatre can easily fit 1000 sitting 3000 people standing! 3) Indulge in a whole range of gastronomical delights!

FOOD is always one of the highlights and the good people at RWG fed us well! We started off with Lunch BUFFET at Coffee Terrace where we were treated to a scrumptious spread of local and international delicacies. Dinner was at Resort Steamboat and and Breakfast at First World Cafe. Afew photos below for a quick look, read my full food review here with restaurant tour videos!

4) Watch Super Stars of Magic 4

Do you believe in Magic?

Magic to me are flawless illusions that can only be achieved via seamless partnerships, careful planning and countless repetition, practise and hard work. At the Resorts World Genting Super Stars of Magic 4 Show, I witnessed the best magic I’ve ever seen! It’s no wonder, since it is the fourth instalment of renowned Magicians rom all over the world, brought together to perform for us in one location.

Keep your eyes wide open and be prepared to be wowed (and say wahhhhhhh together with the audiences) as the magicians amaze you with their endless tricks up the sleeves , and pants, and jackets, and shoes…. I mean… where do you hide so many doves and GOOSES in your sleeves? Yes, someone did that and thats my favourite act.

The show is set to reignite the passion for magic between the general public and the magicians and help strengthen the bonds with the illusionist and their audience. Not hard when there’s a couple of suave young faces in the show 😛 The show will showcase new acts and new renowned magicians, and promises to be an exciting, action packed filled performance with spectacular and astonishing results.
