Masks Masks Masks! No not talking about the N95 that everyone’s on a manhunt for, but talking about the masks that all girls should be using at least once a week – Facial Masks!

I got to know about the Glow Workshop from the Watsons Glow Magazine and immediately signed up for it! Compliments to the girls at Secretive who were extra patient with me. I kept forgetting about the registration confirmation due to my busy schedule ( was preparing for a 1-week overseas trip and needed to clear lots of work in advance) and they followed up with me even till the final week! I’m glad they did – got to know a few wonderful ladies through the workshop and will be working with one of them soon to promote my online shop DaphnePaper!
I was late for the workshop but registration was fast and easy and I was in the ballroom in no time! I have been to Rendezvous Hotel for high tea before and always thought that the hotel looks really chic and comfortable. An ideal place for a beauty workshop like this!

During the workshop, the host gave a quick overview of the company. Secretive was previously known as Lush Group Pte Ltd and is a company that brings in Masks from Taiwan and Korea. Some of the brands they carry are LoveMore, SexyLook and But Becky. After which, the host went through some of the masks they carry and the benefits these masks offer. Other than the interesting ingredients that some of the masks have (yam? soya bean? black caviar !!! They are for real!), I find that one of the special things about their masks is the material of the cloth used. LoveMore masks are made of silk and they feel really really soft, thin and light! One of the bloggers who went up to give her testimony mentioned that it’s so thin and light, it just sticks onto your face and you can wear it around and go on your daily tasks – something very important to me as I am not one who can stay still and do nothing just to wait for the goodness of the masks to slowly seep into my pores! A few of the masks were passed around for us to feel the cloth material / for the mask to seduce us into buying them at the end of the day >.<

I immediately fell in love with the SexyLook Intensive moisturizing black cotton mask. You know how masks sometimes feels so slimy and heavy such that after you’ve taken down the mask, it feels so sticky and gross you’ve got to wash everything off before going to sleep? That’s a lot of product going down the sink! But not this one! This SexyLook Mask not only looks way cool (It’s the first time I see a mask that’s black in color!), it’s comfortably slimy but light, and as I pressed some of the goodness on to my hand and rub my fingers together, the solution was quickly absorbed into my fingers with no sticky feeling at all! My mind went like ‘awwwwww…’, such a good feeling, I’ll never want to wash it off! Did I mentioned the cloth feels like velvet? :DDD

She also shared a few tips on masks application and I realized I have been using my masks totally wrong! Now, do you put on your mask at night and then wear them through to the next morning? It’s to maximise the effectiveness of the mask and to give all the goodness in the mask a longer time to seep into your face right? If yes, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG! Just like me. >.<
Our skin has a threshold limit as to how much goodness it can absorb and once the threshold limit is reached, THE REVERSE HAPPENS! The mask will start sucking back all the goodness from your skin! The threshold limit for most people is usually 15 minutes (that’s why there is such a thing as Instructions! ) and if you wear your mask through the night, you’ll be receiving all the superb benefits of the mask for the first 15 minutes only, and then spend the next 7 – 8 hours of the night having the mask suck the flesh and blood out of your face! Ok not so serious, but this explains why when I always wake up with the mask stuck to my face in the morning, my skin feeling so harsh and dry! I told myself it must be because my skin was hard at work absorbing good stuffs all night long. Now I know it’s the opposite. How silly.

Towards the end there was a lucky draw. Although I didn’t win anything, I still want to show you guys my lucky draw number because I think the photo looks really good! Don’t bother buying the number though – it’s unlucky!

Once the workshop ended, everyone rushed to the back of the room! Do you know why?

We also enjoyed some really delicious refreshments that were served and I started chatting with some of the participants about the workshop and their masks over delicious cakes (there’s cheesecake!!! ) and tea 🙂 Such, is the lifestyle!
And of course, I can’t go home without grabbing some of the the great deals myself right! See what I’ve got!

Throughout the week, I managed to try the LoveMore Black Pearl Mask and the SexyLook Intensive moisturizing black cotton mask and will be reviewing both of them here, so read on to find out what I think about these two masks!
First up, the LoveMore Black Pearl Mask!

As seen in the picture above, the mask has 3 layers and here’s my recommendation on how to apply the mask on your face. Layer 1 is the thickest later and when you open up the mask, it’s instinctive that you’ll remove layer 1 first as it is the most prominent layer, thickest and easiest to remove. After which, apply the mask on your face. I find that it is easier to apply with the 3rd layer on first as the mask is REALLY thin and you’ll risk having the second silk layer crumple together if you remove the third layer that keeps it sturdy. When the mask is nicely applied on your face, remove the 3rd layer from the bottom. There is a excess lap which makes it easier for you to remove the third layer. And voila, I’ve got the thinnest and most comfortable mask I’ve ever used sitting nicely on my face, I don’t even feel that it’s there!

Next up, the SexyLook Intensive moisturizing black cotton mask!!!
Turning the spotlight now onto my new rave! Now, this mask was noted to be very intensive and it is not recommended for daily use. I was bracing myself for some form of self-heating or biting sensation but to my pleasant surprise, there was nothing uncomfortable about it! It felt nice and cooling. Coupled with the velvety cottony soft feeling on my face, I wish I could sleep with it through the night! (NO! Don’t do that! It will make your face drier!)

Sweet Shawn was the one who took this very nice picture of me. He offered to help me take some pictures after seeing how I was struggling with the camera 🙂 Then, Shawn commented that I look like some Russian Ninja or Hitman and I ended up playing the role for fun and doing some martial arts poses. The pictures turned out pretty good (and funny too) !

My final verdict – the masks ROCK BIG TIME! Am loving it and I’ll be sooo looking forward to the next workshop ( got big discount mahhh) when I’m done with my current stocks!

Hi Qi Yun,
You can consider writing sports events/active healthy living posts! Many bloggers tend to leave that out, but I think it’ll add more vibrancy and it’s good to give some value to physical activity & health on your blog too! & since you mentioned that your blog is ‘from Beauty to Business, Sports to Styles, Fashion to Food, Humanity to Hauls’, I have yet to see any sports posts (maybe the martial arts part here counts?). Lol!
Hope to win Giveaway Pack #2, and I don’t mind having those collagen supplements from the goody bag you got from the workshop (if possible)! Lol! 🙂
Cheers,
Ying Xian
